The Singularity is all that remains of the once-pristine, populous world of Meridia. The planet was infested by the Terminids, creating a Supercolony. The valiant Helldivers were forced to sacrifice the planet to save Managed Democracy, collapsing it into a black hole using <i=1>Dark Fluid.</i> Dark Fluid was an exotic substance found on Illuminate worlds at the end of the First Galactic War. These recent changes to the Meridian Singularity, so shortly following the reappearance of the Illuminate, may indicate a deeper connection. The Meridian Singularity may be no ordinary black hole, as many leading government experts have long suspected. These developments demand further investigation. High Command has ordered the construction of a new <i=1>Center of Science</i> on <i=1>FENRIR III.</i> The Helldivers must clear the planet and nearby area of any Terminid infestation in order to facilitate its safe construction.

The Helldivers, champions of the First Galactic War, repulsed the Illuminate wave of attacks, reminding our xenophobic aggressors why their previous attempts at galactic domination failed so utterly. There can be no denying the significance of the Illuminate threat. Those who sought to minimize or downplay their resurgence no longer make such claims. All citizens see plainly that Liberty now faces a third foe, one whose means and intentions remain shrouded in mystery. The Illuminate have receded into the shadows once more, but we will not be fooled: they will be back. And we will be ready.

Whatever secrets about the Jet Brigade it may have contained have likely been scrubbed from servers and databases by now. But all is not lost. An impressive number of memory drives were recovered from the dismantled Automatons. As soon as their contents have been uploaded to bot husks in SEAF possession, they will be ready for interrogation. This is all but guaranteed to yield results, as soon as all 89,601,000 drives have been thoroughly interrogated. No matter how long it may take, we must find the Jet Brigade factories. Only when they are unable to rebuild will our citizens be able to sleep soundly at night, with their safety pre-emptively defended.

Additionally, any remaining Automatons that operated alongside the Jet Brigade may still have important data stored on their internal drives.
